2012 Senate District 59 Convention Preparation

Preconvention committees met on Saturday, March 3, at Center for Families. News and announcements from the preconvention committees is listed below.

NOMINATIONS

If you would like to be considered for a leadership position within the DFL Senate District 59 local party unit, please arrange an interview during one of the screenings with the Nominations Committee on March 24, from 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and March 25, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at Folwell Park (located at 1615 Dowling Ave. N., Minneapolis, MN). The following positions will need to be filled: 

1 senate district chair
1 senate distict associate chair
1 senate district secretary
1 senate district treasurer
1 senate district affirmative action officer
11 senate district directors
6 state central committee members
8 state central committee alternates

2 delegates to the Fifth Congressional District central committee
2 alternates to the Fifth Congressional District central committee

10. Endorsement for State Senate Seat 59

There are a number of candidates seeking the DFL endorsement to represent legislative seats in the new MN Senate District 59 (formerly known as MN Senate District 58), which now covers North Minneapolis, Bryn Mawr, and parts of downtown. 2012 Elections: Senate District Convention Scheduled for March 31

The state senate district convention is scheduled for March 31 at Patrick Henry High School (Please note that the date has changed from April 14 to March 31). Registration starts at 8:30 AM; the convention will convene at 9:30 AM. Delegates may check-in anytime during the day. A proposed agenda with the order of business will be posted once it is approved by the preconvention rules committee. At the senate district convention, delegates will choose candidates to endorse for public office and choose candidates to elect to party positions. Preconvention committees will be having their initial meeting on March 3, 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, at the Center for Families, 3333 4th St. N, Mpls. These committees include: Arrangements, Constitution, Credentials, Nominations, Resolutions, and Rules. Conveners for each committee are listed below.
